Hood | Sura # 11| 123 verses | Makka
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 101وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِنْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ فَمَا أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ آَلِهَتُهُمُ الَّتِي يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ لَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ [ And We did not wrong them, they wronged themselves. Of no avail to them were their gods whom they would invoke besides Allah when there came the command of your Lord. And they did not increase them in other than ruin. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 102وَكَذَلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَى وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ [ Such is the crushing grip of your Lord when He seizes the townships that are repressive. Indeed His seizing is severe and painful. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 103إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآَيَةً لِمَنْ خَافَ عَذَابَ الْآَخِرَةِ ذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَجْمُوعٌ لَهُ النَّاسُ وَذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَشْهُودٌ [ There is indeed a sign for those who fear the punishment of Hereafter. That is a day on which all people will be gathered, and it is a day witnessed (by all). ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 104وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُ إِلَّا لِأَجَلٍ مَعْدُودٍ [ And We defer it only to a term already reckoned. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 105يَوْمَ يَأْتِ لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيٌّ وَسَعِيدٌ [ On the day when it comes, no one will speak without His permission. Some will be wretched and others blessed. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 106فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ شَقُوا فَفِي النَّارِ لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَشَهِيقٌ [ As for the wretched, they will be in the Fire. Therein they will be moaning and wailing. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 107
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ [ They shall remain in it for as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord may wish; indeed your Lord does whatever He desires. ]
There are three types of people; (i) Those who have 'Sahih Iman' and whose deeds are good. They will be in Paradise. (ii) Those who have 'Sahih Iman' but are sinful. They will serve their sentence of punishment for their sins/crimes, at the end of which they will be sent back to Paradise. (iii) Those who do not have Sahih Iman and also their deeds are evil. They will remain in Hell forever.
There are many deviant sects who call call themselves Muslims and claim Paradise for themselves. They should know that without Sahih Iman, their claim of Islam/Islamic deeds will not help them in Hereafter.
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 108
وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ سُعِدُوا فَفِي الْجَنَّةِ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ عَطَاءً غَيْرَ مَجْذُوذٍ [ Those who are blessed will be in Paradise, where they will dwell so long as heaven and earth survive, unless your Lord wills otherwise. This will be a gift uninterrupted. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 109فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِمَّا يَعْبُدُ هَؤُلَاءِ مَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَعْبُدُ آَبَاؤُهُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ غَيْرَ مَنْقُوصٍ [ So do not be in doubt, as to what these (polytheists) are worshiping. They worship not except as their fathers worshiped before. And indeed, We will give them their share undiminished. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 110وَلَقَدْ آَتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِنْهُ مُرِيبٍ [ And no doubt, We gave Musa (عليه السلام) the Book, and there arose disagreements about it (even as there are disagreements now about the Book revealed to you). And were it not for a prior decree of your Lord, the matter would have been decided between them. And no doubt, they are in a deceptive doubt about it (Quran). ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 111وَإِنَّ كُلًّا لَمَّا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ إِنَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ [ Your Lord will indeed recompense everyone fully for their deeds. Indeed He is well aware of what they do. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 112فَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ وَمَنْ تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ [ So, you (lead) those who turned to Allah in your (guidance), in walking on the straight path as you have been commanded, and do not (let people) transgress, for He verily sees whatever you (people) do. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 113
وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُونَ [ And (O' People) do not incline toward the wrongdoers, lest the Fire should touch you, No one can be your protector except Allah nor will anyone be able to help you. ]
It is important for Muslims not to get fascinated by the riches and customs of wrongdoers within and outside Islam.
Getting fascinated by the customs and culture of the non Muslims may lead you to commit an act of Kufr knowingly or unknowingly and there is a chance that you will go out of Islam. Similarly, getting fascinated with customs and culture of the so called Muslims (who may be Munafiqeen) or who are fearless of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) or who are involved in blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), Sahabah and Awliya Allah, there is a chance that you may loose your Iman. In both the cases, the risks are high. Thus it is important that, while you are polite and cordial with everyone in the world, safe guard your Iman at any cost and die as Muslim.
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 114وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ذَلِكَ ذِكْرَى لِلذَّاكِرِينَ [ And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in the beginning hours of the night. Indeed, good deeds efface misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 115وَاصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ [ And be patient; indeed Allah does not waste the reward of the virtuous. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 116
فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ أُولُواْ بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِمَّنْ أَنْجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ [ If only there had been among the generations of the past communities before you, men possessing a remnant of good sense, men of religion and virtue, forbidding corruption in the earth, except a few, whom We saved. Those who were wicked followed that which made them dissolute, and became sinners. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 117وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ لِيُهْلِكَ الْقُرَى بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا مُصْلِحُونَ [ Your Lord would never destroy the townships unjustly while their inhabitants were reformers. ]
If there had been more people among the past generations of the past communities, who were religious and virtuous with good sense, probably would have influenced their communities towards good and their communities could have been saved from the punishment they suffered. There were very very few good people among them who could not influence the large number of people. For their goodness, they were saved, but their communities, because of their evil acts and collective transgression were destroyed. Allah would never destroy the townships unjustly while their inhabitants were reformers.
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 118وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ [ Had your Lord wished, He would have made mankind one community; but they continue to differ, ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 119إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ [ Except those on whom your Lord has mercy, and that is why He created them, and the word of your Lord has been fulfilled : 'I will surely fill Hell with jinn and humans, all together.' ]What was the word of Lord? This was the word of Allah stated while Satan argued with Him declining to prostrate to Adam (عليه السلام).It is in Quran - لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ [ (That) I will surely fill Hell with you (Satan) and those of them that follow you, all together.] (Saad - 85)
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 120وَكُلًّا نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ وَجَاءَكَ فِي هَذِهِ الْحَقُّ وَمَوْعِظَةٌ وَذِكْرَى لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ [ (O' Prophet ﷺ) Whatever We relate to you of the accounts of the (past) Apostles are those by which We strengthen your heart, In it (the Quran) We have revealed the Truth to you with good advice and reminders for the believers. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 121وَقُلْ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ اعْمَلُوا عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنَّا عَامِلُونَ [ Tell the unbelievers, 'Do as you wish and I will do as I believe. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 122وَانْتَظِرُوا إِنَّا مُنْتَظِرُونَ [ And wait, indeed we (too) are waiting. ]
Juz 12, Hood, Verse 123وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُ الْأَمْرُ كُلُّهُ فَاعْبُدْهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ [ To Allah belongs the Unseen of the heavens and the earth, and to Him all matters are returned. So worship Him and trust in Him. Your Lord is not oblivious of what you do. ]
