In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 071

قَالَ آَمَنْتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آَذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِي جُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَا أَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَأَبْقَى [ Pharaoh said, 'You accepted faith in him before I permitted you! He is indeed your leader who taught you magic; I therefore swear, I will cut off your hands and your legs from alternate sides, and crucify you on the trunks of palm-trees, and you will surely come to know among us two ( I and the God of Musa and Haroon  عليهم السلام), whose punishment is more severe and more lasting.']

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 072

قَالُوا لَنْ نُؤْثِرَكَ عَلَى مَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالَّذِي فَطَرَنَا فَاقْضِ مَا أَنْتَ قَاضٍ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِي هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا [ The Magicians said : 'We will never prefer you above the clear evidence that has come before us, and above Him Who created us.  So decide whatever way you want,  you can decide only for the life of this world.]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 073

إِنَّا آَمَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَايَانَا وَمَا أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السِّحْرِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى [ We believe in our Lord so that He forgives us our sins and the sorcery you have forced us to practice. And, it is Allah who calls His servants for virtue and His rewards are everlasting.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 074

إِنَّهُ مَنْ يَأْتِ رَبَّهُ مُجْرِمًا فَإِنَّ لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى [ Verily he who comes to his Lord as a rebel (on the day of Judgment), for him is Hell, therein shall he neither die nor live.]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 075

But those who come to Him as believers, having done good deeds, they will have the highest ranks. ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 076

جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ مَنْ تَزَكَّى [ (and) the Gardens of Aden, under which rivers flow, where they will abide forever. That is the reward of those who purify themselves. ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 077

وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لَا تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَى [ We revealed to Musa (عليه السلام), Travel by night with My servants and strike a dry path through the sea for them, and do not fear being overtaken (by Pharaoh) or of drowning (in the sea). ]
After the magicians' episode, Musa (عليه السلام) stayed in Egypt for some years during which many events took place.  The details are available in Surahs al-Araf (130-147), Yunus (83-92),  and Az-Zukhuruf 46-56).

In the end, a night was fixed for Israelis' exodus from Egypt.  They gathered at a place and traveled as a caravan and reached red sea from where they were to enter into Sinai Peninsula.  Meanwhile Pharaoh got the news of the exodus and followed the Israelis with his army.  Israelis were held up between the sea and Pharaoh's army.  Then Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) commanded Musa (عليه السلام) to smite the sea with his staff and the sea was split and the water stood like two great walls,  in between a dry path was opened for the Israelis to cross the sea.  Pharaoh and his army followed Musa (عليه السلام) into the sea.  The Israelis crossed the sea safely, but as Pharaoh and his army reached the middle of the sea, the  water-walls joined together drowning Pharaoh and his entire army into the sea.

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 078

Then Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, but how overwhelming were the waters that engulfed them! ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 079

Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide (them right). ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 080

We saved you from your enemy, and We made a covenant with you on the holy mountain's side, and sent down on you the manna and the salva (quails), ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 081

كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِي وَمَنْ يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِي فَقَدْ هَوَى [ Eat from the good things we provided you, and do not transgress, lest you incur My wrath. Whoever incurs My wrath has indeed thrown himself into ruin. ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 082

But I am truly forgiving towards those who repent, believe, do righteous deeds, and stay on the right path.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 083

وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَنْ قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَى [ 'And why did you come in haste ahead of your people, O Musa (عليه السلام)? ]

The Israelites were told to stay on the right side of Mount Tur, and they would be given the commandments after forty days.  However, in an attempt to see his Lord, Musa (عليه السلام) left them on the way and reached the meeting place.

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 084

He replied, 'They are closely following on my tracks. And I have hastened to You, my Lord, so You will be pleased.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 085

قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ [ (Allah) said : (Know that) We have put your people to a test in your absence, and the Samiri (Samaritan) has led them astray.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 086

He said, 'O my people! Did not your Lord give you a true promise? Did the period (of my absence) seem too long to you? Or did you desire that your Lord’s wrath should descend on you and so you broke your promise to me?' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 087

قَالُوا مَا أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَا أَوْزَارًا مِنْ زِينَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَلِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ [ They said : 'We did not break our promise to you of our own accord, but we were loaded with (sinful) loads of ornaments of the people (of Egypt), and we threw them (to get rid of them), in the same way as the Samiri threw (them, into a fire).'  ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 088

فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَهُ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا هَذَا إِلَهُكُمْ وَإِلَهُ مُوسَى فَنَسِيَ [ Then Samiri made for them (an idol of) a calf, which had a lowing sound (of a cow), so they said (to each other), 'This is your god and the god of Musa (عليه السلام), but he has forgotten.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 089

أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا [ Did they not see that it did not give them any answer, nor it had power to do them harm or bring them gain? ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 090

وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَارُونُ مِنْ قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهِ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوا أَمْرِي [ Haroon (عليه السلام) had already warned them beforehand, 'O my people! You are only being tested by this, for indeed your Lord is the Most Compassionate.   So follow me and obey my orders (and desist from calf worship). ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 091

قَالُوا لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَى [ They replied, 'We will not cease to worship it,  until Musa (عليه السلام) returns to us.' ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 092

قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا [ (Musa  عليه السلام) said : O' Haroon (عليه السلام)! what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, ]

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 093

Juz 16,  Taa Haa, Verse 097

قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ أَنْ تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَنْ تُخْلَفَهُ وَانْظُرْ إِلَى إِلَهِكَ الَّذِي ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا لَنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنْسِفَنَّهُ فِي الْيَمِّ نَسْفًا [ Musa (عليه السلام) said, Go away, for in this life your punishment is that you exclaim ‘Do not touch me' (as you will be cursed by a disease)! And indeed for you is a time appointed, which you cannot break; and look at your deity, in front of which you remained squatting the whole day; we swear we will surely burn it and smash it into bits, and throw it into the river.']
