In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 001

O' People, fear your Lord. The great upheaval of the Hour will indeed be terrible. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 002

يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّا أَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسُكَارَى وَلَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللَّهِ شَدِيدٌ  [ On that Day you will see that every nursing mother will forget her nursing babe and every pregnant female will miscarry, and you will see people as if they are intoxicated, though they will not be drunk. Such will be the horror of Allah’s torment. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 003

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّبِعُ كُلَّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ  [ Yet there are some among people, who in their ignorance, argue about Allah and follow all rebellious devils. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 004

كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ مَنْ تَوَلَّاهُ فَأَنَّهُ يُضِلُّهُ وَيَهْدِيهِ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ  [ It has been decreed for such devils that whoever takes them as a guide, will be misguided, and led by them into the torment of the Blaze. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 005

If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then (know that) We did create you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then (developed you into) a clinging clot, then a lump of flesh, fully formed or unformed, in order to demonstrate (Our power) to you. (Then) We settle whatever (embryo) We will in the womb for an appointed term, then bring you forth as infants, so that you may reach your prime.  Some of you  die (young), while others are left to reach the most feeble stage of life (old age) so that they may know nothing after having known much.   And (similarly) you see the earth lifeless, but as soon as We send down rain upon it, it begins to stir (to life) and swell, producing every type of pleasant plant. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 006

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنَّهُ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى وَأَنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ  [ This is so, because Allah is the Reality.  It is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who has power over all things. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 007

وَأَنَّ السَّاعَةَ آَتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ  [ And indeed the Hour will come. There can not be any doubt about it, or about (the fact) that Allah will raise up all,  who are in the graves. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 008

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَا هُدًى وَلَا كِتَابٍ مُنِيرٍ  [ Yet, there are some who dispute about Allah without having any knowledge or guidance, or any enlightening Book. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 009

ثَانِيَ عِطْفِهِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ وَنُذِيقُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ  [ Twisting things around in order to lead others astray from the Path of Allah, for such people there is disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Judgement we shall make them taste the punishment of burning fire. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 010

That (punishment) is on account of what you had done in the past; yet Allah is not unjust to His creatures. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 011

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ خَيْرٌ اطْمَأَنَّ بِهِ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ انْقَلَبَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ خَسِرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآَخِرَةَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ [ And among people there are those who worship Allah on the very edge (doubtfully). If good befalls him, he is content with it (faith); but if a trial befalls on him, then he turns back on its face (becomes a disbeliever), thus loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is (indeed) a manifest loss.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 012

يَدْعُو مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُ وَمَا لَا يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الضَّلَالُ الْبَعِيدُ [ Leaving Allah they pray to those who cannot harm or profit them. That is the limit of going astray.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 013

يَدْعُو لَمَنْ ضَرُّهُ أَقْرَبُ مِنْ نَفْعِهِ لَبِئْسَ الْمَوْلَى وَلَبِئْسَ الْعَشِيرُ [ He even invokes the being (the Devils) that is far more likely to cause harm than benefit. What evil a patron, and what evil an associate!]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 014

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ [ Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do good deeds into Gardens, under which rivers flow. Surely Allah does what He wills.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 015

مَنْ كَانَ يَظُنُّ أَنْ لَنْ يَنْصُرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآَخِرَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ بِسَبَبٍ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ لِيَقْطَعْ فَلْيَنْظُرْ هَلْ يُذْهِبَنَّ كَيْدُهُ مَا يَغِيظُ [ Whoever thinks that Allah will not help the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) to victory in this world and  in Hereafter, (let him move heaven and earth to prevent His help.) Let him stretch out a rope to the sky (to prevent Allah's help and Revelation from reaching the Prophet ﷺ), and then sever that rope (to descend without being broken into pieces). Then let him see whether the schemes he makes will be of any use to him, and (whether he can) do away with what enrages him.]

It is reported that Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Ikrimah, Ata, Abu al-Jawza, Qatada (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہم) were of the opinion that the meaning of this verses is  'Whoever thinks that Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) will not help Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in this world and the Hereafter, let him stretch out a rope to the ceiling in his house and let him strangle himself.  What they meant was, 'let him go and kill himself if it annoys him so much, for Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) will most certainly help and support the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 016

Thus have We sent down the verses of Quran as manifest signs, and indeed Allah guides whomever He likes.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 017

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالصَّابِئِينَ وَالنَّصَارَى وَالْمَجُوسَ وَالَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ [ Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians, Christians, Magians, and Polytheists,  Allah will judge between them on the Day of Judgment: for Allah is witness of all things.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 018

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَسْجُدُ لَهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ وَالنُّجُومُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَكَثِيرٌ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ الْعَذَابُ وَمَنْ يُهِنِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ مُكْرِمٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ [ Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified. And he whom Allah humiliates, none can lift (him) to grace.  Indeed, Allah does what He wills.]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 019

هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قُطِّعَتْ لَهُمْ ثِيَابٌ مِنْ نَارٍ يُصَبُّ مِنْ فَوْقِ رُءُوسِهِمُ الْحَمِيمُ [ These are two opposing groups (believers and non-believers) that dispute about their Lord. They shall be decked with pearls and bracelets of gold, and their garments will be of silk. ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 024

وَهُدُوا إِلَى الطَّيِّبِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ وَهُدُوا إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْحَمِيدِ [ This is because during their life on earth, they were guided to accept the pure words of Allah and they were shown the Way of the All Praiseworthy (Lord). ]

Juz 17, Al-Hajj, Verse 025

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ الَّذِي جَعَلْنَاهُ لِلنَّاسِ سَوَاءً الْعَاكِفُ فِيهِ وَالْبَادِ وَمَنْ يُرِدْ فِيهِ بِإِلْحَادٍ بِظُلْمٍ نُذِقْهُ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ [ As for those who are unbelievers and stop others from the Way of Allah and from the Masjid-al-Haram, to which We have assigned all mankind with equal rights whether they are natives or foreigners, and whoever intends to deviate from righteousness to wrongdoing in its vicinity, We will make him taste a painful punishment. ]
