THE CRITERION

Al-Furqaan | Sura # 25| 77 verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 021

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَى رَبَّنَا لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا [ Those who do not expect to meet Us,  say, 'Why have angels not been sent down to us?  Why do we not see our Lord?'  They have become arrogant about themselves and are excessively self conceited. ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 022

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَى يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَحْجُورًا [ There will be no good news for the guilty on the Day they see the angels.  They will cry, 'Keep (them) away! Away (from us)!' ]

There are three occasions when the disbelievers could see the angels; (i) when Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) sends a massive collective punishment for them  in this world, (ii) when they die and the angels take out their soul, and (iii) on the day of Resurrection when the angels will show them the Hell Fire from a short distance and they will be taken there to be thrown in Hell. All these occasions do not bring any good news for them.

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 023

Then We will turn to whatever (good) deeds they (disbelievers) did, reducing them (the deeds) to scattered dust. ]

The above verses clarifies that the good deeds of disbelievers is related to this world only. Their good deeds will be of no use in Hereafter.

In the same way, the followers of deviant sects among Muslim community may face the same scenario in Hereafter.  Their Salah, Zakat and all their good deeds will be of no use to them on the day of resurrection. One who does not have correct knowledge, he neither has Islam nor Iman.  When you have the right knowledge, you will act upon it and perform good deeds.  The affects of your actions will reflect the soundness of your knowledge. What is illiteracy?  It is a kind of darkness and obliteration.

The one who does not have correct knowledge (صحيح ايمان) here in this world, will not be relieved of eternal torment in Hereafter. If you do not have the light of knowledge today, tomorrow (after death), it will be the darkness of illiteracy which is permanent torment.

It is in Quran -  وَمَن كَانَ فِى هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أَعۡمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ أَعۡمَىٰ [ The one who is blind (about Sahih Iman) in this world, will be blind in Hereafter] (Al-Isra - 72)

The success in the World of Resurrection and welfare in this world  depends upon the rightful knowledge (correct Islamic faith) and divine gnosis’.   If there is a defect in a person's faith (Sahih Iman), he has lost everything in this world as well as  in Hereafter - خَسِرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةَ [ He has lost (this) World and the Hereafter.]  (Al-Hajj - 11)

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 024

The residents of Paradise on that Day will have the best abode and the finest place to rest. ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 025

That day, the sky and the clouds will split apart; and through it, angels shall descend in a continuous stream. ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 026

الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَنِ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ عَسِيرًا [ The Sovereignty on that day will be Truly for the Most Beneficent (Lord), and it will be a hard day for disbelievers. ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 027

وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا [ On that Day the wrongdoer will bite his hands, saying (with regret) ‘If only I had followed the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) on the straight path.'   ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 028

Woe to me! I wish I had not taken such and such as my (close) friend!  ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 029

لَقَدْ أَضَلَّنِي عَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَنِي وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنْسَانِ خَذُولًا [ 'He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Satan is a great betrayer of man!'  ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 030

وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَذَا الْقُرْآَنَ مَهْجُورًا [ And the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) will say : 'My Lord! Surely (the disbelievers among) my people have made this Quran something worthy of no attention.'  ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 031

وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ وَكَفَى بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا [ Similarly, We made enemies for every prophet from among the wicked, but sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.  ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 032

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآَنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً كَذَلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا  [ The disbelievers ask : 'Why is not the Quran revealed to him (the Prophet ﷺ) all in a single revelation?' (It was revealed in stages) because We may strengthen your heart.  And We revealed it in well-organized portions.]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 033

And no question do they bring to you but We reveal to you the truth and the best explanation (thereof).]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 034

الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ أُولَئِكَ شَرٌّ مَكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا  [ Those who will be dragged into Hell on their faces will be in the worst place, and are (now) farthest from the (Right) Way.]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 035

وَلَقَدْ آَتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ وَزِيرًا [ We gave Musa (عليه السلام) the Book (Tauraat), and made his brother Haraoon (عليه السلام) his Minister (Helper),]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 036

فَقُلْنَا اذْهَبَا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآَيَاتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَاهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا [ And commanded them : 'Both of you go to the people who have denied Our Revelations.' But those people rejected Our Apostles.  As a result, We destroyed them completely.]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 037

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَمَّا كَذَّبُوا الرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ آَيَةً وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا [ And the people of Nooh (عليه السلام), when they rejected the Apostles, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrongdoers a grievous punishment.]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 038

As also 'Aad and Thamud, and the Companions of the ar-Rass, and many a generation between them.]

Ar-Rass are reported to be the people who killed their Prophet by throwing him into or hanging him down in an old dry well.

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 039

وَكُلًّا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ الْأَمْثَالَ وَكُلًّا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًا [ We admonished each of them by citing examples of those who were destroyed before them, even then they rejected Our revelations, so We exterminated each one of them.]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 040

وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرَوْنَهَا بَلْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا  [ And the (disbelievers) must indeed have passed by the town on which was rained a shower of evil.  Did they not then see it (with their own eyes)? But they do not expect to be resurrected. ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 041

وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِنْ يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا  [ And whenever they see you (O' Prophet  ﷺ) they ridicule you, (saying), 'Is this the one Allah sent as an Apostle? ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 042

إِنْ كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آَلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَا أَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا  [ (They say) Had we not stood firm, he (the Prophet  ﷺ) would have turned us away from our gods.' Very soon, when they face the punishment, they will realize who actually is most astray from the Right path! ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 043

Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as god,  then would you be responsible for him? ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 044

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا  [ Or do you think that most of them listen or try to understand? They are nothing but cattle.   Nay, they are even further off the track! ]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 045

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِنًا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا [ Have you not seen how your Lord extends the shade (during the day). He could have simply made it (remain) still if He so willed.  Then We make the sun its guide, ]

The sun has been made the guide of the shadow means,  the lengthening of the shadow and its retreat depends on the rising, declining and setting of the sun.

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 046

(Then We) cause the shadow to retreat gradually?]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 047

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُورًا [ And it is He, Who has made the night a garment for you, and sleep a rest. And He has made the day a time of rising to life and going about (for daily livelihood).]

Juz 18, Al-Furqaan, Verse 048

وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُورًا [ And it is He, Who sends forth the winds as glad tidings (of rain) in advance of His mercy.   And We cause pure water to descend from the sky,]
