YASEEN

Yaseen| Sura # 36| 83 Verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 022

وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ [ (When the people (of the town) asked the man to desist, he said) Why should I not worship Him Who has created me and to Whom you shall be returned? ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 023

أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آَلِهَةً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِ [ How could I take besides Him other gods whose intercession would not be of any benefit to me, nor could they save me if the Most Compassionate (Lord) intended to harm me? ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 024

If I do so, I would indeed be in manifest error. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 025

For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all) : listen, then, to me!' ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 026

(But the disbelievers killed him.) Then, It was said (to him) : 'Enter Paradise.'  He said : 'Would that my people knew (what I know), ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 027

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ [ that my Lord has forgiven me and made me among the honored ones!' ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 028

وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى قَوْمِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ جُنْدٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنْزِلِينَ [ We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 029

For all it took was one shriek, whereupon they fell down lifeless. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 030

Alas for those people, Whenever an Apostle came to them, they used to mock at him.]

There are differences of opinion among scholars about the 3 Apostles that were sent to these people.  Some say that they were not Apostles, rather they were the representatives of Isa (عليه السلام) who went to the Syrian city of Antioch.  Some others say that they were indeed Apostles sent by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) to a town not disclosed in the Quran. Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) knows best.

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 031

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ [ Do they not see? Many a town have We demolished prior to them. Verily, none of their dwellers ever returned! ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 032

And surely, all of them will be brought before Us. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 033

وَآَيَةٌ لَهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ [ The dead land may serve as a sign for them; We give it life and produce from it grain for them, which they eat. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 034

And We produce in it gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We cause springs of water to gush forth from it, ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 035

لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ [ so they may eat its fruits. They did not do it themselves. So will they not be thankful? ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 036

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ [ Glory be to Him Who has created all things in pairs which the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind, and other things which they don’t know. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 037

A clear sign for them is the night : We withdraw the day from it, and see, they get plunged into darkness. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 038

The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 039

We have determined phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 040

لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ [ The sun is not allowed to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each floats in their own orbit. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 041

وَآَيَةٌ لَهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ [ Another sign for them is that We carried their ancestors (with Nooh  عليه السلام) in the fully loaded Ark, ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 042

And We have created for them the like of it in which they sail. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 043

If We wish We could drown them with none to respond to their cry of help.  Nor would they be rescued. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 044

Unless by a mercy from Us and (Our allowing them) to enjoy life for some time more until a term (determined). ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 045

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ [ And when it is said to them : 'Beware of that which is before you (punishments in the world) and that which is behind you (punishments in the Hereafter) so that you may receive Mercy.' ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 046

وَمَا تَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ آَيَةٍ مِنْ آَيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ [ Yet there does not come to them a clear sign from among the signs of their Lord (a Revelation from among His Revelations), but they turn away from it (being averse to the admonition given therein). ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 047

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَنْ لَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ [ Whenever they are asked : 'Spend out of what Allah has given you.'  The disbelievers say to the believers : 'Should we feed those whom Allah can feed Himself if He so chooses? (Indeed) you are quite obviously in error!' ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 048

They say : 'When will this promise (of punishment will) occur if you are so truthful?' ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 049

All it takes is one Shriek that will seize them while they still arguing about it. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 050

Then, neither they will be able to make a 'will', nor be able to return to their families. ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 051

When the trumpet is sounded they will come out of their graves and hasten towards their Lord, ]

Juz 23, Yaseen, Verse 052

قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ [ They will say : 'Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep?' (It will be said to them) : 'This is what the Most Gracious (Allah) had promised and the Apostles spoke the truth!' ]
