Ad-Dukhaan| Sura # 44| 59 Verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 031
He was truly an arrogant transgressor. ]
Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 032
And We chose them (Israelis) knowingly over all people (at that time). ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 033
And We showed them signs in which there was a clear test. ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 034
As to these (people of Quraish) who say, ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 035
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ [ 'there is nothing beyond our first death, and we will never be resurrected.' ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 036
(They say) 'Bring (back) our forefathers, if what you say is true.' ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 037
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ [ Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? ]
The people of Tubba were a branch of the Sabaeans, who ruled Saba  around 300 AD.  They were well known people of Southern Arabia for their prosperity and riches.
Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) is saying that many people/nations were destroyed earlier in spite of their worldly prowess and prosperity because they were transgressors.  The Makkan Pagans are nowhere near them in prosperity.  If they think that they will not be destroyed because of their material wealth, they should look at what happened to the previous nations when they transgressed.
Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 038
We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game. ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 039
We have not created them but (to reveal) the truth, but most of them don’t know. ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 040
The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 041
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ [ the Day when a friend will not be of any use to his friend, nor will they be helped, ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 042
إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [ except for him on whom Allah has Mercy. Indeed He is the Almighty, Most Merciful. ]

(It will be said), 'Taste (this)! Surely, you were (claiming to be) the mighty, the noble! ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 051
Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place, ]

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ [ they will never taste death in it except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the punishment of the blazing fire, ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 057
فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ [ as a grace from your Lord! That will be the supreme success! ]

Juz 25, Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 058
Surely,  We have made this Quran easy (to understand) by revealing in your own language so that they may take heed. ]
