سورة الحديد

Al-Hadid| Sura # 57| 29 Verses | Madinan

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful
Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 001
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ [ Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the Almighty, All Wise. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 002
لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ [ To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death and He has power over all things. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 003
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآَخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ [ He is the First, and the Last, He is the Manifest (apparent) and the Immanent (hidden and actually present through out the material world) and He knows about all the things. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 004
هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ [ It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in 6 days and then establish the authority (of the Cosmos) on the Throne.  He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, and what descends from the heaven and what ascends to it. And He is with you wherever you are. And Allah is  All Seer of what you do. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 005
لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ [ To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And to Allah all matters are returned. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 006
يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَهُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ [ He merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night. He knows what is in your hearts. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 007
آَمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ فَالَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ  [ Believe in Allah and His Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), and spend (in His Way) out of what He has made you trustees. Those of you who believe and spend (in His way), they will be greatly rewarded. ]
The above verse clarifies that the wealth earned by people in this world is actually the wealth on which they are made trustees. They are required to spend it on them, on their families and among the needy in the world as per the guidelines of Sharia.

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 008
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَاقَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ  [ And what is the problem with you that you don’t believe in Allah? While the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is inviting you to believe in your Lord, and indeed Allah has taken your covenant (earlier) if you are real believers. ]
What was the covenant that was taken by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) from all the people?
It is in Quran  -   وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ ۛ شَهِدْنَا ۛ أَن تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَـٰذَا غَافِلِينَ [ (O Prophet  ﷺ), remind mankind about the incident when your Lord brought into existence the offspring from the loins of Adam (عليه السلام) and his descendants (virtually each single individual of mankind) and made them testify about themselves. Allah asked them : 'Am I not your Lord?' They all replied : 'Yes! We bear witness that You are.' This We did, lest you mankind should say on the Day of Resurrection: 'We were not aware of this fact that You are our Lord and that there will be a Day of Judgment. ] (Al-A'raaf - 172)

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 009
هُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ آَيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ   [ It is He Who sends down clear revelations to His servant (Prophet Mohammad ﷺ), so that He may bring you out from the darkness into the light.  Surely, Allah is full of Kindness and Most Merciful. ]
Belief in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is essential part of Iman. The above verse explains that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is the only one who brings the people out of darkness into the light of Iman.  Without him, there is no Iman, no Islam and no Ihsan.
There is a Sect called Ammanis, who claim themselves Muslims.  They believe that belief in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is optional.  You believe in him or not, does not matter. You will get salvation just by believing in one God.
There are two types of Ammanis in the world.
(i) They recite Islamic Kalima but  believe that followers of all Muslim sects are essentially Muslims, irrespective of their outrageous beliefs about Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and all will get salvation.
(ii) They claim that all sects and all religions in the world are truthful and by following anyone of them, you will get salvation. They believe that belief in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is optional.  You believe in him or not, does not matter.  You will get salvation just by believing in one God. The only essential part of Iman for them is believe in one God. It is fine if you have different perception about your God.
Ammanis have compiled their own Quran titled 'Study Quran' which was published in 2015 in line with Christian Bible and Jewish Torah/Talmud.  It does not contain verses of Quran in Arabic.  One has to read only English version of Ammani interpretation of Quranic verses.
Ammani beliefs are based on Perennialism or Perennial philosophy which has its roots in Platonism. Perennialism is also known as 'Universalism',  'Traditionalism' and 'Sulah-e-Kulli'.  This is based on the philosophy that all religions are truthful and you follow any religion, you will get salvation in Hereafter.
'Ammani Sufis' have infiltrated into many Sufi orders in the world. They treat Sufism as a religion, independent of Islam. They also claim  Sufism predates Islam.  Some of these so called Sufis also claim that they believe in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) but they propagate Ammani beliefs among their followers.

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 010
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَا يَسْتَوِي مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ أُولَئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُوا وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَى وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ   [ What is the problem with you that you do not spend in the Way of Allah, whereas to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Those of you who spent and fought in the Cause of Allah before the victory (of Makka), shall receive higher ranks of honor than the others who spent and fought thereafter. Yet Allah has promised you all a good reward, and Allah is aware of all your actions. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 011
مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ وَلَهُ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ   [ Who will make a loan of goodness to Allah, so that He may multiply it for him and reward him generously? ]
The meaning of loan in the above verse is 'the charity to needy'.  Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) promises that whatever you spend, you will get it back multiplied in this world and in Hereafter, both.

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 012
يَوْمَ تَرَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَسْعَى نُورُهُمْ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَانِهِمْ بُشْرَاكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ  [ On the Day (of judgment) you shall see the believing men and the believing women, with their light shining before them and by their right hands. (It will be said to them) 'Glad tidings for you this Day! (You shall enter the) gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to reside  there in forever! Truly, this is the greatest success!' ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 013
يَوْمَ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ لِلَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا انْظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِنْ نُورِكُمْ قِيلَ ارْجِعُوا وَرَاءَكُمْ فَالْتَمِسُوا نُورًا فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِسُورٍ لَهُ بَابٌ بَاطِنُهُ فِيهِ الرَّحْمَةُ وَظَاهِرُهُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ الْعَذَابُ  [ On that Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to the true believers, 'Wait for us, that we may borrow some of your light.' But they will be told, 'Go away! Seek your light elsewhere.' So a wall with a gate shall be set up between them. Inside there shall be (Allah's) Mercy, and outside all along there shall be punishment of Hell. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 014
يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى وَلَكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَارْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّى جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ  [ (The hypocrites) will call them (believers): 'Were we not with you (in the world)?' They (believers) will reply,  'Yes! But you led yourselves into temptations, you waited and doubted (about faith); and you were deceived by false desires until the command of Allah came, while the chief deceiver (Satan) deceived you about Allah.' ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 015
فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ وَلَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ هِيَ مَوْلَاكُمْ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ  [ Today no ransom will be accepted from you, nor from those who rejected the truth. Your home is the (Hell) Fire. It is more fitting place for you. What a miserable destination. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 016
أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ [ Has not the time yet come for those who believe,  that their hearts should soften with humility and submit  in the face of Allah’s Remembrance  and what has come down of the truth (the Quran)? And (has not the time yet come) that they should not be like those who were given the Book before? A long time has passed over them (after they received the Book) and so their hearts have hardened; and many among them (have become) transgressors. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 017
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآَيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ [ Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its death! Indeed We have made clear the revelations to you so that you may understand. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 018
إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ [ For charitable men and women who have loaned Allah a loan of goodness, it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a generous reward. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 019
وَالَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الصِّدِّيقُونَ وَالشُّهَدَاءُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآَيَاتِنَا أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ [ Those who believe in Allah and His Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), they are the truthful and the true witnesses in the sight of their Lord; they shall have their reward and their light. But those who disbelieve and reject Our revelations; they shall be the inmates of Hellfire. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 020
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَامًا وَفِي الْآَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٌ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ [ Know that the life of this world is just a play, amusement, luxury, mutual boasting to one another and rivalry in wealth and children. It is like a rain that helps plants grow, pleasing the growers, but then it dries up and you see it turn yellow, then it becomes stubble. There is severe punishment in the Hereafter, as well as forgiveness from Allah and (His) approval. The life of this world is just an illusion. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 021
سَابِقُوا إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ [ Hasten for the forgiveness of your Lord, and Paradise, whose expanse is as wide as that of the skies and the earth, which has been prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Apostles. This is the bounty of Allah which He bestows on whosoever He please; and Allah is limitless in His blessings. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 022
مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَبْرَأَهَا إِنَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ [ No calamity (or blessing) can befalls on the earth or on yourselves, except (that which is inscribed) in a book (of Decrees), before We bring it into existence. Surely, that is easy for Allah. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 023
لِكَيْ لَا تَأْسَوْا عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آَتَاكُمْ وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ [ (We let you know this) so that you neither grieve over what you have missed nor boast over what He has granted you. For Allah does not like whoever is arrogant and boastful. ]
In the above two verses, Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) is teaching us to be content with whatever has been given to us.  We need not be boastful for His rewards and not excessively lament on the difficulties we face in the world. Pray for the safety from the calamities and be grateful to Him for His bounties and remain content in life and look for His approval in everything we do.

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 024
الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ [ Those who are stingy and promote stinginess among people, and whoever turns away (should know that) Allah (alone) is truly the Self-Sufficient (and) Praiseworthy. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 025
لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ وَرُسُلَهُ بِالْغَيْبِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ [ Indeed, We sent Our Apostles with clear proofs, and with them We sent down the Scripture and the balance (of justice) so that people may administer justice. And We sent down iron with its great mighty benefits for humanity, and means for Allah to prove who (is willing to) stand up for Him and His Apostles without seeing Him.  Surely Allah is All Powerful, Almighty. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 026
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ فَمِنْهُمْ مُهْتَدٍ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ [ And indeed, We sent Nooh and Ibrahim (عليهم السلام), and bestowed in their offspring Prophet-hood and Scripture.  Some of their (followers) were guided ones, but many of them were rebellious. ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 027
(Eventually), We sent, Isa Ibn Maryam (عليه السلام) and gave him the Injeel. We instilled compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. (As for) the monasticism, We did not impose it on them. They invented it themselves. (By such means), they sought the acceptance and the pleasure of Allah. Yet, they did not abide by the demands of monasticism. We granted the reward to those of them who believed. Most of them, (however), are evildoers! ]
Monasticism or Ruhbaniyya has never been an essential part of Islam anytime during human civilization.  Sometimes people impose it on themselves in order to get Allah's (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) approval.
Monasticism started in Christians in the beginning of 3rd century AD in which some of them looked upon asceticism as a moral ideal and regarded celibacy (abstinence/maidenhood) as superior to marriage and matrimonial responsibilities. They considered that it was not appropriate for those those who performed religious services in Churches to marry, have children and be involved in other essential worldly chores.  Gradually, this became an epidemic  by the end of 3rd century AD in the Christian world.
Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) says that it was not imposed on them by their Prophet (عليه السلام) or in their scripture, but they did it seeking the acceptance of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ).
However, what they attempted was not in line with human nature, therefore, they could not meet the demands of monasticism imposed on them by themselves and got involved in all kinds of corruption in the name of monasticism.
Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 028
Fear Allah and have faith in His Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). He will grant you twice (the portion of) His mercy. He will grant you light by which you shall walk (along the straight path of Islam)! And He will grant you forgiveness! Indeed, Allah is oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful! ]

Juz 27, Al-Hadid, Verse 029
لِئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ [ So the people of the book may know that they do not have any control (or exclusive right) over (the distribution of) Allah´s bounties. In fact, the bounties rest in the hands of Allah, and He confers them upon whomever He wishes. Allah is the Lord of the highest Honor! ]
