Al-Jumu'a| Sura # 62| 11 Verses | Madinan

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 001

يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ [ Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth (constantly) glorifies Allah, the King, the Most Sacrosanct, the Almighty, the All Wise. ]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 002

هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آَيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِنْ كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ [ It is He Who has raised among the unlettered people an Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) of their own, who recites to them His revelations, purifies them, and teaches them the Book and Wisdom, though prior to this they were in gross error. ]

The above describes that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) taught Sahabah the Quran, trained them in wisdom and purified their Nufoos.
[Certainly did Allah confer (a great) favor upon the believers when He sent among them an Apostle from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they had been before in manifest error.] (Aal-e-Imran - 164).
The process of teaching, training and purification of Sahabah was as follows.
(i) Sahabah first accepted Islam on the hands of Prophet Mohammad They gave promise of allegiance (Ba'it - بیعت) by reciting Islamic testimony (کلمہ طیّبہ).
It is in Quran - "إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ اللَّهَ يَدُ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚ فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِمَا عَاهَدَ عَلَيْهُ اللَّهَ فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا" [ Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, (O' Prophet ﷺ) they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah, He will give him a great reward.] (Al-Fath - 10)
Sometimes, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) took promise of allegiance (بیعت) as repentance for one’s past wrong doings.  Sometimes the pledge (بیعت) was taken to shed the last drop of blood in the cause of Islam, as it happened  at the time of the conflict of Hudaibiya. The Promise of allegiance was also taken from women.
(ii) After people became Muslims, Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) taught them Quran.

(iii) Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) then trained Sahabah in their day to day living.  He also taught them wisdom.
[Indeed in the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) you have an excellent example to follow; for him who hopes in (the meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and does Zikr of Allah extensively.]   (Al-Ahzaab - 21)
(iv) When Sahabah sat in the company of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) their worldly thoughts and ordinary consideration got extincted from their minds and they became exceptionally pious.  This aspect is referred in the above Quranic verse as 'purification' ('وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ').
It is in Hadith - Hanzalah Al-Usayyidi (رضئ الله تعالى عنه) said, "O'Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), when we are in your company, and are reminded of Hell-fire and Jannah, we feel as if we are seeing them with our own eyes, but when we go away from you and attend to our wives, children and business, much of these things go out of our minds." Thereupon the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said, "By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in the Zikr of Allah, the angels will shake hands with you in your beds and on roads. (Muslim - part of the Hadith).
After Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) left this world, the teaching, training and purification of the people was carried out by Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Sahabah, Aimma and Shuyookh of Ihsan and Awliya Allah.

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 003

He is also sent for others of them who have not yet joined them (become Muslims). He is the Mighty, the Wise.]

The above verse describes that the teaching, training and purification started by Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is still continued by by his blessings by the chosen people of his Ummah and it is applicable for all people of the world till the day of resurrection.

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 004

That is the Grace of Allah, which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allah is the Possessor of Mighty Grace. ]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 005

مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا التَّوْرَاةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ الْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ أَسْفَارًا بِئْسَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآَيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ [ The example of those who were entrusted to uphold the Torah, but then failed to uphold it, is that of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (on his back but understands nothing). How bad is the example of people who deny the Verses of Allah? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoers. ]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 006

If you claim to be Allah’s chosen (people) out of all humanity, then wish for death, if what you say is true.' ]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 007

But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have done. Allah knows the unjust well. ]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 008

قُلْ إِنَّ الْمَوْتَ الَّذِي تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ مُلَاقِيكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ  [ Tell them,  'the death from which you are running away, will surely come, then you will be sent back to Him Who knows the unseen and the seen; and He will tell you all that you have been doing.']

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 009

When the call for Salah  is made on Friday (for congregational prayers), hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave your business (activities). That is better for you if you but knew.]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 010

فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَانْتَشِرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَابْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ  [ When Salat-ul-Jumu'a is over, you may disperse in the land and seek the Grace of Allah (by working). Remember Allah much so that you may be successful.]

Juz 28, Al-Jumu'a, Verse 011

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا قُلْ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ  [ (Those who are still weak in Iman) when they see some bargain or some sport, they rush to it and leave you standing (during your sermons).   Tell them (O Prophet ﷺ),  what Allah has in store for them is far better than any sport and bargain, and Allah is the best provider.]

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 001

إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ قَالُوا نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُ وَاللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَكَاذِبُونَ  [ When the hypocrites come to you (O Prophet ﷺ)  they say, 'We bear witness that you are certainly the Apostle of Allah', and indeed Allah knows that you are His Apostle, but Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are profound liars.]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 002

اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ سَاءَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ  [ They have taken their oaths as a shield (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder people from the Way of Allah. Surely, evil is what they do.]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 003

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ آَمَنُوا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا فَطُبِعَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ  [ This is because they believed and then abandoned faith. Therefore, their hearts have been sealed, so they do not comprehend.]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 004

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ وَإِنْ يَقُولُوا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَةٌ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ هُمُ الْعَدُوُّ فَاحْذَرْهُمْ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ [ When you see them, their appearance impresses you. And when they speak, you listen to their (impressive) speech. But they are like (worthless) planks of wood leaned (against a wall). They think every cry is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allah condemn them! How can they be deluded (from the truth)? ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 005

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لَوَّوْا رُءُوسَهُمْ وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُمْ مُسْتَكْبِرُونَ  [ When it is said to them, 'Come! The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) will seek forgiveness for you', they turn their heads away. You find them looking away in arrogance (and disdain). ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 006

سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ لَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ لَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ  [ It makes no difference whether you ask forgiveness for them or not, Allah will not forgive them. Allah does not guide such treacherous people. ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 007

هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا وَلِلَّهِ خَزَائِنُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ  [ They are the same people who say :  'Do not give anything to those who follow the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) until they have deserted him.'   To Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth; but the hypocrites cannot understand. ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 008

يَقُولُونَ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ  [ They (hypocrites) say : 'If we return to Madinah, indeed the more honorable (Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul, the chief hypocrite at Madinah) will expel from there the meaner (Allah’s Apostle ﷺ).' But honor, power and glory belong to Allah, and to His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and to the believers, but the hypocrites don’t know. ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 009

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا لَا تُلْهِكُمْ أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلَا أَوْلَادُكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ  [ O' Believers, do not let your wealth and your children distract you from remembering Allah. Those who do so will be the ones who lose. ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 010

وَأَنْفِقُوا مِنْ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنِي إِلَى أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُنْ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ  [ Spend, in charity and in the Cause of Allah, out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on you before that time when death will come to anyone of you, and he shall say : 'O my Lord! If only you would reprieve me for a little so that  I could give out everything in charity, and be among the righteous.' ]

Juz 28, Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 011

وَلَنْ يُؤَخِّرَ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهَا وَاللَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ  [ But Allah does not grant a person respite once its term has come to an end. And Allah is aware of what you do. ]
