JUZ 6.1  LA YUHIBULLAH (لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ)

سورة النساء

The Women

An Nisa | Sura # 4| 176 verses | Madinah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate and the Merciful

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 148

لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّوءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ إِلَّا مَنْ ظُلِمَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا  [ Allah does not like  public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged,  and Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing. ]

The above verse is for the prevention of the habit of backbiting. Only a person who has met with an injustice from the other is allowed to tell about this person's bad deed to others with the intention to get justice and correct the wrong doer.  However, even in this case, the aggrieved one is encouraged to forgive the ill done to him.

Slander is bigger sin. The difference between backbiting and slander is, in backbiting, the teller is telling about the bad deeds of a person.  In slander, the teller is lying about the person and trying to associate a bad deed which is not committed by him.  The intention is to defame him and bring him discredit in society.

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 149

إِن تُبْدُوا خَيْرًا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ أَوْ تَعْفُوا عَن سُوءٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا قَدِيرًا  [ Whether you do some good openly or in secret, or forgive an ill done to you, (know) that Allah is most forgiving and all-powerful. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 150

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يُفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ اللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذُوا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ سَبِيلًا  [ Those who do not believe  in Allah and His Apostles, and seek to differentiate between Allah and His Apostles, and say : 'We believe in some and not in the others,' and wish to find a way (between affirmation and denial), ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 151

أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ حَقًّا وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُهِينًا  [ Are the real disbelievers; and for disbelievers We have  a disgraceful punishment. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 152

وَالَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ أُولَئِكَ سَوْفَ يُؤْتِيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا [ But those who believe in Allah and His Apostles and make no distinction among any of them, will be rewarded by Him; for Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.]

The Jews do not believe in Prophet Isa (عليه السلام) and Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).  The Christians do not believe in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).  Not accepting a truthful prophet of Allah is rejection of Allah's (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) command openly and brazenly.  Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) treats it as disbelieve.

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 153

يَسْأَلُكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَنْ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَابًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا مُوسَى أَكْبَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَرِنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَآَتَيْنَا مُوسَى سُلْطَانًا مُبِينًا [ The people of the Book demand you (O' Prophet ﷺ ) to bring them a book from heaven.  With Musa (عليه السلام) they had asked a bigger thing and demanded to show them Allah face to face.' (Thus) they were struck by lightning  as a punishment for their wickedness.  Even then they made idol of a calf (for worship), when clear signs had reached them.  Still We forgave them and gave Musa (عليه السلام) clear dominance. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 154

وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ الطُّورَ بِمِيثَاقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا فِي السَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا [ Then We raised mount (Sinai) over them to take a covenant and decreed them that, 'Enter the gate while prostrating'  and do not cross the limits of the Sabbath,' and We took from them a firm covenant. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 155

فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِمْ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِمْ بِآَيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌ بَلْ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا [ So (they were punished) for breaking the covenant and disbelieving the signs of Allah, and for killing the prophets unjustly, and saying : 'Our hearts are enfolded in covers. In fact Allah has sealed (their hearts) because of their unbelief. Thus, they do not believe,  believe except a few; ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 156

وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلَى مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَانًا عَظِيمًا [ And because they disbelieved and accused Maryam (عليها السلام ) with a tremendous slander; ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 157

وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا الْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِنْهُ مَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًا [ And for saying : 'We killed Isa Ibn Maryam (عليه السلام), who was an Apostle of Allah;' but they neither killed nor crucified him, though it so appeared to them. Those who disagree in the matter are only lost in doubt.   They have no knowledge about it other than conjecture, for surely they did not kill him; ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 158

بَلْ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا [ In fact Allah raised him towards Him; and Allah is Almighty, All Wise. ]

Raising of Hadhrat Isa (عليه السلام) alive on the sky is a factual truth established from the above verses. Some people try to misinterpret these verses to prove that  Isa (عليه السلام) has died.  Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) says,  'they neither killed nor crucified him, though it so appeared to them, and in fact Allah raised Isa (عليه السلام) towards Him.  'Those who disagree in the matter are only lost in doubt.' They interpret the meaning of raising Isa (عليه السلام) as  raising his status after his death (Astaghfirullahal Azeem).

Human being is provided with intelligence to understand and deduce things. Therefore he is made responsible for all actions and is also subject to torment (عذاب) or recompense (ثواب) depending upon his deeds.  Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) has provided mind and heart to every human being and it is imperative that they use them properly, ponder over the facts of the Cosmos and walk on the right path.

(i) It is in Quran -   كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ الرِّجْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ [So Allah places degradation (subject them to torment) on those who do not believe." (Al-An'aam - 125)

(ii) It is in Quran -  وَيَجْعَلُ الرِّجْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ [ And He places degradation on  those (subjects them to torment) who have no understanding. ]  ( Yunus - 100)

The above Quranic verses clarify that the punishment for  rejection and  punishment for 'not trying to understand', is the same.

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 159

وَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا [ And there is none from the People of the Scripture but that he will surely believe in Isa (عليه السلام) before his death.  And on the Day of Resurrection he will stand against them a witness. ]

The above verse clearly describes the second coming of Isa (عليه السلام) in the end times.

The Jews and some Muslim sects believe that Prophet Isa (عليه السلام) had been killed.  This is a wrong understanding and a false belief.  Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) will send him in the end time to prove that he is alive. He will come after the appearance of  Dajjal.  Prophet Isa (عليه السلام) will descend from the heaven, pursue and kill Dajjal. He will also destroy Yajooj and Majooj.

Christians will recognize the truth and accept Isa (عليه السلام)  as an Apostle of Allah (and not as son of God) and will come under the fold of Islam.  The religion of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ), which is Islam, will rule the world.  There will be no oppression  or conflicts.  Peace will prevail all over the world. There will be no need to collect Jizyah, the specific tax for protectorates (أهل الذمة), as Islamic Zakat will be paid by all. Christianity and Judaism and all other religions will end.  Isa (عليه السلام) will perform Hajj, get married and will have children.  He will die after living his full life on Earth. His death will mark the beginning of the last days of humanity before the Day of Judgment.

It is in Quran -  إِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِ ۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ [ And indeed, Isa (عليه السلام) will be (a sign for) of the Hour, so be not in doubt about it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.] (Az-Zukhruf - 61)

It is in Hadith -  It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said :  There is no prophet between me and him (Isa - عليه السلام ). He shall descend, and you will recognize him when you see him. He is a man of medium height, between reddish and white complexion.  He will be dressed in  two slightly yellowish garments. His head looks as if it is dripping water even though it is not wet.  He will fight people for the sake of Islam, will break the Cross, kill the swine and abolish Jizya. Allah will put an end to all religions and sects  except Islam during his time. He  will kill the  Dajjal. He will stay in the World for 40 years before his death. Muslims will perform the funeral prayer for him.  (Abu Dawood, Ahmad)

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 160

فَبِظُلْمٍ مِنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُوا حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَاتٍ أُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ كَثِيرًا [ Because of the wickedness of some among the Jews, and because they obstructed people from the way of Allah, We forbade them many things which were lawful for them; ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 161

وَأَخْذِهِمُ الرِّبَا وَقَدْ نُهُوا عَنْهُ وَأَكْلِهِمْ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا [ And because they practiced usury although it had been forbidden for them; and for using others' wealth unjustly. For those who are unbelievers among them We have reserved a painful punishment. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 162

لَكِنِ الرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَالْمُقِيمِينَ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْمُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآَخِرِ أُولَئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا [ But to the learned among them, and the believers who affirm what has been revealed to you and was revealed to those before you, and to those who fulfill their devotional obligations, who pay the Zakat and believe in Allah and the Last Day, We shall bestow them a great reward. ]

The people of knowledge and wisdom among Jews and Christians did recognize Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as the last Apostle to humanity, as was already foretold in earlier scriptures.  They eventually came to Islamic fold.  The above verse describes that they will also get the reward from Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ).

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 163

إِنَّا أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ كَمَا أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى نُوحٍ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَعِيسَى وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَارُونَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ وَآَتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ زَبُورًا [ Indeed, We have revealed to you, (O' Prophet ﷺ), as We revealed to Nooh (عليه السلام) and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Ibrahim, Ismail, Is-haq, Yaqoob (عليهم السلام), the Descendants, Isa, Ayyub, Younus, Haroon, and Sulaiman (عليهم السلام), and to Dawood (عليه السلام) We gave the book of Psalms (الزبور). ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 164

وَرُسُلًا قَدْ قَصَصْنَاهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَرُسُلًا لَمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَ وَكَلَّمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَى تَكْلِيمًا [ And to many an Apostles We have mentioned before, and to many other Apostles We have not mentioned to you; and to Musa (عليه السلام) Allah spoke directly. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 165

رُسُلًا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنْذِرِينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى اللَّهِ حُجَّةٌ بَعْدَ الرُّسُلِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا [ Apostles giving glad tidings and (fore) warnings, in order that people may not have any argument left about Allah, and Allah is Almighty, All Wise. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 166

لَكِنِ اللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ إِلَيْكَ أَنْزَلَهُ بِعِلْمِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا [ Allah is Himself witness to what has been revealed to you (O' Prophet ﷺ), and revealed from His knowledge, and the angels are  (also) witness; and Allah is sufficient as witness. ]

What was revealed to all Prophets?  It is the the commandments of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) which were culminated as Islamic Sharia in Quran.

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 167

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا [ Those who denied and turned away from the path of Allah, have have certainly gone far astray. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 168

Those who disbelieve and transgress will not be forgiven by Allah, nor be shown a way,]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 169

إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا [ Except to Hell, where they will abide for ever; and this is easy for Allah.]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 170

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الرَّسُولُ بِالْحَقِّ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَآَمِنُوا خَيْرًا لَكُمْ وَإِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا [ O Mankind, the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe; it is better for you. But if you disbelieve, then indeed, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth. and Allah is All Knowing, All Wise.]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 171

يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُ فَآَمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلَاثَةٌ انْتَهُوا خَيْرًا لَكُمْ إِنَّمَا اللَّهُ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ سُبْحَانَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا [ O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Isa Ibn Maryam (عليه السلام), was but an Apostle of Allah, and His word, which He directed to Maryam (عليها السلام) and a soul  from Him.  So believe in Allah and His Apostles. And do not say, 'Trinity'; desist,  it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one and Praise worthy; exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah for all help. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 172

لَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِلَّهِ وَلَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ وَمَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا [ Never would the Messiah disdain to be a servant of Allah, nor would His exalted angels. And whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant, soon He will gather them all towards Him.]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 173

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ اسْتَنْكَفُوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا [ Then those who believed and did good deeds will be given their recompense in full, and even more out of grace. But those who disdain and who brag will receive a painful torment. They will find none except Allah to help or save them. ]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 174

Indeed the clear proof from your Lord has come to you, and We have sent down to you a bright light.]

The above verse is very clear in describing Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم)  as Noor from Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ).

It is in Quran  قَدْ جَاءَكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَابٌ مُّبِينٌ  (From Allah has come to you a Light and a Book manifest.) (Al-Maeda - 15).

It is in Quran –  يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا  -  وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى اللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَسِرَاجًا مُّنِيرًا  [ O’ Prophet ﷺ, Truly We have sent you as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and Warner (for the entire Cosmos); and one who invites to Allah's  (Grace) by His consent, and as a lamp spreading light (into the whole cosmos).]  (Al – Ahzab - 45-46).
It is in Hadith - It is related that Jābir Ibn  Abd Allah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) said to Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم),  O' Apostle of Allāh (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me the first thing Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) created before all things."  The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said:   O' Jabir (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ), the first thing Allah  (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) created was the light of your Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) from His light. (And everything else was created from that light).  (Part of the Hadith).
The above Hadith was narrated by Abd al-Razzaq (d. 211 AH) in his Musannaf according to Qastallani in al-Mawahib al-Laduniyya (1:55) and Zarqani in his Sharh al-Mawahib (1:56 of the Matba`a al-amira edition, Cairo). There cannot be any doubt as to the reliability of Abd al-Razzaq as a narrator.  Bukhari took 120 narrations from him while  Muslim took 400.  Biahaqi also narrated this Hadith with a different wording in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwa, according to Zurqani in his Sharh al-Mawahib (1:56 of the Matba'a al-amira, Cairo).  Also Diyarbakri narrated it in 'Taarikh al-Khamis (1-20).

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 175

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَاعْتَصَمُوا بِهِ فَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْ فِي رَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَيْهِ صِرَاطًا مُسْتَقِيمًا  [ So those who believed in Allah and held fast to His rope, He will admit them into His mercy and munificence, and will guide them on the Straight Path towards Him.]

Juz 6, An Nisa, Verse 176

Say, Allah has given a decision in the matter of inheritance. If a man dies and leaves no child behind but have a sister, she will get  half of what he owned, as he would have done the whole of what she possessed if she had died childless. In case he has two sisters then they will get two-thirds of the heritage. But if he has both brothers and sisters, the male will inherit a share equal to that of two females. Allah makes this manifest to you lest you wander astray, for Allah has knowledge of all the things. ]
